Dante smirked as he won, but before he had a chance to say anything his legs went out from under him. He fell towards the ground, accelerated by a punch in the back. He knew he could have protected himself, but he had been caught completely unawares, slamming into the sand hard.

Dante slowly pulled himself up and licked his sand covered lips, tasting something rather irony. He wiped his mouth with his hand, and saw a bit of blood. He must have bit his lip on impact. He raised up his hand showing it to Nero. Look. You'd have won too. He smirked a little as the cut was already gone, far too small to last long with his enhanced healing abilities.

Dante stood up and wiped the sand from his face. You okay? I hope I didn't do any lasting damage. The hands are a delicate area. An average human would require an amputation after a shot like that.

Lucky? Yeah, right. Dante yawned and wandered back over towards the Ebony, picking it up and holstering it, along with the Ivory. He made his way back to the tree as Nero spoke.

Good to hear. I'd hate to have made you useless He teased again as he pulled the Force Edge from the depths of the tree. Which he then slung back to its original position

He yawned again, then plopped down under the tree. He had been there for maybe 20 seconds when he jumped back up. Do you smell that? Dante grinned. I hope that hand of yours is healed, because we've got a-wait...a few devils to kill!

Yeah, sure. And you stink.

Dante started out away from the water and towards the town. He began muttering. Of course they'd go to the town. They always got to the town. And I've got useless with me. He waved his arm haphazardly in Nero's direction.

Just as he made it to the town Dante stopped. It's gone. What just happened? Dante was confused. Did somebody just kill it, or did it escape back to the demon world. He looked back to Nero. This could be trouble.

"It's gone. What just happened?"

"How the hell should I know? Maybe dead, maybe gone... Maybe coming back. We should probably find out what happened, someone must have seen something; ask around."

Nero said with another shake of his hand as he followed Dante into town. His hand was feeling much better now, only a slight tingling sensation in it now. Nero then split off from his demon hunting 'partner' and wandered over to a man and woman in the street; he began talking to them quietly, presumably trying to find out if they had seen anything suspicious while he assumed Dante would be doing the same...

( ooc: Meh, short post... I thought I'd let you decide what devil it was and what happened since you introduced them into the topic. )

Dante hopped up to the top of a building, where he began sniffing the air. He then smelled something. He hopped from rooftop to rooftop, knowing Nero would follow. He eventually made it to the center of town, when he inhaled deeply again. He then hopped down into the middle of the crowd.

It's around here somewhere. But all I see are humans...unless

It must have disguised itself as a human, that was the only way to explain it. But what kind of devil can do that? It must have be powerful, as even the scent was weak.

The crowd scattered when Dante landed, obviously they weren't expecting a Devil Hunter to drop into their midst. He scanned over the crowd, most of them fleeing, as he had a rather large sword on his back.

Oi, it's not like I'm here to kill humans!

Nobody seemed to hear him, except for a few people that sped up. Could they...? Dante decided to test his theory, he leapt over the crowd and stopped in the path of somebody who was running the quickest. He grabbed the man by the collar of his shirt. He inhaled deeply, then releases the man rather roughly.

Nothing...

He knew he was making himself a scene, but decided to use that to his advantage. After all, Nero could easily blend in and kill the devil when it made its move. If it made its move. He jumped around the crowd, performing the same check on anybody who seemed suspiscious enough. He knew they had to find the devil soon, the crowd was thinning. If they couldn't find him before it dispersed then they'd have to search the whole city.

Dante saw Nero find somebody, and saw his signing too. He grinned. Nero knew Dante had fun doing the chasing. He lunged through the air, landing at the mouth of the alleyway. He rushed down the alley, drawing the Force Edge as he did so. He watched as the man ran away from him, but with all the sweat coming off of him the scent of devil was almost overpowering. There was no mistake, this was their prey. He scraped the blade against one of the buildings, sending up sparks and making a terrible screeching noise, while doing absolutely no harm to the blade.

Come here little demon! I promise I won't hurt you! I'll make your death quick and painless.

This of course, only caused the devil to speed up. But that was indeed Dante's plan. Although he wasn't quite planning on what would happen next. The devil ran out of the alleyway into a slightly larger back alley, Dante of course ran out right behind him. A man stood there with a gun, which Dante unfotunately had run right into so that the muzzle was pointing directly at his forehead, only an inch or so from the skin.

Aw, fu-

A gunshot drowned out the rest of that sentance.

*BANG!*

The gunshot echoed through the street with a flash from the end of the gun. But not the one Dante had expected; Nero fired first from Dante's left from within one of the buildings that made up the alley. Two bullets spun from his revolver, smashing through a window and hitting their targets with precision before the man could pull the trigger. One pierced the man's trigger finger whilst the other smashed into the side of the gun just above, nudging it aside and away from Dante's head as well as preventing the shot.

"Dante might get stroppy with the headache, and I've got no Aspirin..."

Nero said as he vaulted through the smashed window calmly, keeping his aim one the the man in front of Dante...

"So why don't we skip the part where you shoot him in the head, eh?"

The gunshot rang out, and Dante was confused by the lack of pain in his head. He opened his eyes, seeing the man's trigger fingeron the ground. The man howled in pain. Dante easily finished the man off with a horizontal slash, removing the man's head from his shoulders. Sure enough, the corpse became a devil's once he died. He grinned.

Thanks Nero, that would've been quite a doozy.

He lunged down the alleyway, just catching the tail end of his disapointed prey vanishing down another back alley. He flew down the alley, hoping Nero would be ready with the ambush. He began to think about his close brush with a bullet. Obviously there was more than a single devil here. Another thing, obviously these guys didn't know who they were dealing with. A single bullet in the brain would easily kill a human, but it would take more than that to take him out. There must be a nest down here, and obviously they didn't keep up with Devil Hunters, or they'd have known he was no human. And they knew how to disguise themselves as humans. This was going to be a bigger mission than he thought at first.

Dante ran down the alleyway, no more than 10 feet behind his prey. He watched as Nero jumped down from the rooftops and used an attack that was no more than probably 2% of his full speed. As expected, the devil ducked under it. Dante's raised eyebrow was satisfied by Nero's short explanation and returned to its original location. That was actually a good plan, he wondered why he didn't think of it himself. In any case, he returned his sword to its previous location and winked at the man before him.

So I suppose it's silent recon time?

He didn't wait for the response before lunging up to a rooftop in a single bound, landing with a huff atop it. In actuality, he was just showing off in front of Nero, he almost exhausted himself with the leap. Though he would never show it in front of Nero. He lunged forward, moving slow enough that Nero could catch up but still moving faster than the devil he was trailing.
