The Demon World. This was NOT on Dante's vacation list. He cursed loudly at the devil's mother, father, and extended family until he was certain that he had sufficiently repaid it for luring him back here. He looked about, not exactly certain how to get back to the Human World. Obviously waiting for the devil to reopen a portal was out of the question, as he had chopped the annoying PoS into tiny pieces the first chance he got. He mentally berated himself for falling for the devil's trap. But standing around waiting wouldn't solve anything, and so he began a trek to find an unknown exit to this literally demonic location...

Hell Pride x4

Dante found himself trapped in the Demon World; a place known by various other names such as Netherworld, Underworld, and even Hell. A World parallel to the Human World but split into various realms, each with their own distinct visual appearance and ruled by differing powerful Devils. But the one thing that never changed between the various realms was the hordes of Demons that lurked within…

The area was fairly dark, still visible, but with a shadowed effect, only a red glow from the distance to light the area. It appeared as though it was like this place’s sun, yet, it didn’t give off the same sense of joy or even warmth. And, oddly enough, it was impossible to actually see where this red light was coming from; each time it was looked directly at, one’s eyes would blur and burn making it impossible to see its origin. Though mysterious, this light was a blessing, it was the only thing that allowed Dante to see the area around him. Not that the place was one that anyone would wish to visit. It was almost cave-like with walls surrounding Dante and spikes that resembled icicles hanging from the high-up ceiling and sticking up from the uneven ground. All of this had the same pattern across it: black with cracks of glowing orange and red, giving it the appearance of lava, yet without the burning, in fact, the area was eerily cold.

As the lost Demon Hunter wandered aimlessly, the sound of his boots against the ground wasn’t the only sound that echoed through the open area. Quiet yet harsh footsteps could be heard from various directions, followed by devilish screams. Though, it didn’t matter how quick Dante were to turn his head, he would only ever catch the tiniest glimpse of a shadow. Suddenly, without any sign but a strange sound, a pulsating web of red power covered the only visible tunnel out of this large room. Following this, the air around Dante began to shimmer before it abruptly smashed like glass. And as it did, low-level Demons fell out of these apparent portals.

These weak Demons must have sensed Dante’s arrival first, coming straight here to take care of him like good slaves. They were about to find out how stupid that was. Surely Dante could take care of a small group of four Hell Prides. If only they had common sense, they’d of stayed away, or at least come in greater numbers. Though, the only advantage these creatures had was the fact that their strength was improved as they were in their own World. The four of them began to side-step around the man in red, circling around his position. All of them holding scythes at the ready and preparing to strike. Two of which lunged forward at once, one from either side of Dante. The one on his left pulled up it’s weapon and slammed it down towards the intruder whilst the other, on Dante’s right, made his attack with a horizontal sweep of it’s scythe across at it’s foe’s waist…

Dante didn't bother to turn, or give any notion at all that he noticed he wasn't alone. With his heightened senses he was absolutely certain that he was being followed. It wasn't really much of a surprise, the demons had felt the presence of a human and came to eat their fresh prey. But in their haste they didn't seem to have noticed that their prey wasn't fully human...

The appearance of the demons was responded to by a simple act. Dante yawned. "So, you guys must be the welcome wagon. Pretty sorry way to say hello, if you ask me. Oh and this decor? Hideous. I recommend something a bit less of a creepy factor." He doubted that they would respond to his taunts, as far as the half-demon could tell they were mindless. But it was still fun.

As the scythes came towards him, they seemed to pass right through him. But it soon became apparent that he had moved too quick for even the eyes of demons to follow. That was far faster than he had had to move in years, he was partially exhausted, though not enough to weaken him by any noticeable amount. And it was exhilerating. He stood atop a stalagmite, balancing on one foot and announced his location by taunting them some more.

"You shouldn't play with sharp objects. You might...poke your eye out."

He grinned as he whipped out both the Ebony and Ivory in one smooth motion. The huge grin seemed to taunt even more than the devil hunter's words as he pulled the triggers twice, loosing exactly one bullet at each of the demon's heads.

As Dante thought, these Demons were completely blank to what he said. These were just mindless minions of higher power of Devil. They had no concept of speech what so ever. They had no idea what Dante was trying to achieve with the sounds coming from his mouth. But the smirk, that was a different story, they knew what the grin spread across his face meant. And it angered them greatly. Not that it mattered, not to two of them anyway…

The two Hell Prides that had failed to strike Dante ended up attacking one another. Perhaps if they were more intelligent they wouldn’t have both lunged forward with an attacked simultaneously at either side of their foe, anyone with half a brain cell could work out that moving would make them hit each other. One’s scythe punctured through the other’s chest with an almost vertical strike, whilst the other attack tore the Hell Pride in half at the waist. As it’s upper half began to fall, a bullet blasted it’s head clean off as well. The other hadn’t died from the first strike like the first, yet a bullet to the side of the head caused it fall down like a sack of meat; dead.

Two other Hell Prides remained, the two that chose not to attack so fast. And it was because of this that they were not distracted, and so, had time to avoid the next shots that were fired. A bullet each. The first pulled up it’s weapon to defend, bringing the curved blade between it’s face and the speeding bullet. With a ting, the bullet ricocheted off to the side. The second Hell Pride however leaned to the side a little as it tilted it’s head, allowing the bullet to speed past without making contact. What was more impressive about this move was the fact that it allowed for the Pride to make a counter attack while evading. Whilst making this evasion, the Demon tossed it’s scythe; the weapon spiralled through the air parallel to the ground and the blade ready to come round to Dante’s neck…

Dante didn't bother to dodge the scythe. He fired five bullets from the Ivory at the flying blade, knocking it off course so that it would harmlessly impale itself in the stalagmite. At the same time, he fired 3 bullets from the Ebony, these bullets were aimed at the devil that had thrown it's scythe. While they seemed to be identical, the Ivory was in fact optimized for quick-draws and rapid fire, where the Ebony was optimized for long range and power. In this way he had chosen the best gun for each job.

It occured to the devil hunter that perhaps the scythe wouldn't be stopped by the stalagmite and instead slice through it, and so he leaped off of his perch and flipped through the air, holstering the Ebony in midair. He didn't even look to see if the bullets had struck the first devil before he drew the Force Edge with his free hand, coming down on the devil that hadn't attacked him yet.

The Hell Pride that had thrown the scythe simply stared at it with a gormless look spread across it’s face as the weapon was shot out of the air. The bladed staff was shot aside towards one of the ‘spikes’ that stuck up from the ground; the wooden part of scythe hit the stalagmite so that it spun around it a little before falling to the ground due to losing all it’s speed. The Pride was so confused by this that it didn’t even flinch when the bullets were fired. Each and every one of the bullets fired from Dante’s Ebony smashed into the Demon’s chest. It fell down flat on it’s back immediately, but slowly attempted to clamber back to it’s feet.

During this time, the Demon Hunter had already leaped into the air and was preparing to strike down the only Demon left standing. As Dante came down on it, the Hell Pride lifted up it’s weapon to defend itself. The Demon held it’s scythe across it’s head horizontally in hopes of stopping the sword in its tracks. However, this low-grade weapon didn’t stand a chance. The Force Edge simply smashed through the weapon and through the Demon. The blade tore through it effortlessly so that the pathetic creature fell apart leaving nothing more than a pile of sand.

By this time, the only remaining Pride was back on it’s feet, alive but a little worse for ware. Now though, instead of attacking Dante, the Demon looked up and spread it’s arms as it arched it's back and let out an ear-splitting screech…

"Sliced like a tomato...a very sandy tomato..."

Dante chuckled at his own lame joke after watching the Hell Pride fall in half before disentigrating into sand. He didn't have very much time to celebrate, as suddenly the loudest and most screeching sound he could ever recall hearing rang out and more or less shattered the devil hunter's eardrums. It was so loud that not even the firing of the Ivory twelve times in the devil's direction could be heard over it. He might have been imagining it, but he could swear he could feel blood dripping down his face from his ears. He'd check the next time he had a chance.

"OI! SHUT THE HELL UP!"

It wasn't very witty, but DAMN was that thing loud. No witty thoughts came to mind, or any thoughts for that matter, with that thing screeching at him.

Doppelganger

With Dante so distracted from the outrageous sound that the Demon was making, his accuracy wasn’t great. But, with quite a lot of shots fired, a few still struck the loud-mouthed Demon. It fell back, and this time, for good; it’s body dissolved into a thinly spread pile of sand. Though the creature was dead, that infuriating screeched remained for a second or two, echoing off of the walls. Soon, it became apparent to Dante as to what that scream really was; it wasn’t an attack or that the Demon had gone mental, it appeared to be some sort of alarm call. As the sound dulled leaving only a ringing left in the Demon Hunter’s ears, there was no doubt he would feel that there was something wrong.

Dante’s own shadow cast by the red light began to tremble slightly, beginning to move independently from him. It slowly moved round from his side and raised from the ground to take a darkened three dimensional form. Darkness irradiated off of it like smoke and glowing red eyes flashed up as the Demon stared back at Dante. He would be familiar with this variety of Demon, well he had fought most types of Demon before, but he had endured a memorable fight with one of these before… A Doppelganger.

Within the Devil's hands grew a pair of guns that were a clear imitation of Dante's Ebony and Ivory. The Doppelganger spun the guns round on his fingers a few times as he lifted his hands up above his head bringing them together. As soon as they got there, the Devil swung his arms back down but the guns had changed to a large sword in a blink of an eye. This was unmistakably a copy of Dante's Force Edge this time. Now that the Doppelganger was finished showing off, the weapons evaporated into smoke and it lifted it's left hand and gave Dante a signal to 'bring it on' with a smirk spread across it's face...

Dante rose to his feet, shaking the ringing sound from his ears. Ignoring the rapidly rising form of the Doppelganger, the devil hunter holstered the Ivory and checked his ears for blood. Sure enough, there was a trickle of it sliding down his head from his ears, but not enough to really worry about, they'd heal up soon enough. The half-demon finally acknowledged the devil's appearance after tossing the Force Edge to his right hand.

"Can't you at least be a little original? Or must you remain a constant copycat?"

He matched the Doppelganger's smirk with his own. After waiting few seconds to see if it would make the first move, he lunged and delivered a slash that would go right through the midsection of the Doppelganger, providing it didn't move.

The Doppelganger neglected to respond to Dante's comments and simply waited for Dante o make the first move. During those few seconds, the Devil began to mimic his opponent's movements, copying even the slightest of movements. The Doppelganger had a shadowed version of Force Edge re-emerge in it's grasp and, as Dante rushed forward, the copy did so as well. As the two charged at one another the Doppelganger swung it's weapon so that the blades collided and locked as pressure was applied. Since his was nothing but a living shadow, there was not the usual smash sound as this happened.

Just from this first action, it appeared clear that the Devil had not just taken on Dante's physical appearance, but was at equal strength and speed of the half-Demon. Over-powering or out-running this Demon like Dante would to any weaker Demon would be impossible; it would take more skill and tactics to make a successful attack on this one...

With the blades caught in a stalemate, the Doppelganger pulled the handle down a little to tilt his blade almost beneath Dante's and pushed up immediately after in an attempt to force both Force Edge's up. If successful, which was quite likely with the speed and force of the movement, the Doppelganger planned to release the sword's handle with one and and fire a shot at Dante's chest. A copy of Ivory would be in it's hand instantly without having to draw it like Dante would, making it quiker than Dante would be capable of...

(Sorry bout how late this reply is. I've had literally no muse... T_T )

Dante was caught off guard by the devil's tactic. A perfect mimic, right down to the attack. And just as the blades clashed with...no sound at all...Dante began thinking about how this could end in nothing but a draw if the devil copied him perfectly.

It was then that he was once again caught off-guard by the sudden change in the Doppelganger's tactic. His blade flew upward and wrenched his arms with it. Suddenly he knew what the devil was planning. Unfortunately, the devil hunter had no way of stopping it.

As the Doppelganger released it's blade, it vanished like the shadow it was. Then a shadow-version of the Ivory appeared in it's hand and it fired, giving Dante the chance to remove his hands from the blade...but not much else.

The shot caught the half-demon in his chest, flinging him back against a stalagmite, which knocked whatever wind he had left out of him. He struggled to recover and pull out his own guns out. After what felt like hours, but was actually only a few seconds he had both of them out and was standing up in a defensive position, determined that it wouldn't happen again.
